My lasting impressions of India are hard to quantify or qualify with words. Our small snapshot was exactly that; small. As i've written a number of times in this blog, what makes India so special is the people. It is they who live their lives as best they can. It cannot be said they are a 'developing country' unless you are talking economics, because actually their way of life is developed in the way that only they know how.
Ambition builds the desire to do and be much more than their current means but in the end their life is their life. It's just what they know. Their generosity and warmth was impressionable upon us and noted worldwide. Their innovation in adversity and ability to live life in a simple and fruitful manner should be an inspiration to many who are somehow cursed by powerful negative influences that leave them the feeling of being unfulfilled and wasted. When comparing all this to our western lives we must look at our lives and situations in various perspectives. I think a worthy and powerful perspective is the Indian one. I was overwhelmed with all these thoughts in the week after I returned. After such a great trip with Sarah, to such a great country it was hard being 'home'. But you live the life you are given and am truly grateful for the opportunities to visit such places.
Thanks to Avinash for inspiring this trip. It was a magnificent one and we thank him for all the organisation that went along with it. To Praful for playing his role as a superb host. It was great to travel with Fred for the last week and hang out after some months not getting the chance to do so. To Sarah, you're a great travel buddy and I'm very thankful for being able to travel with you. Til the next adventure!
