Christmas - New Years 2009 - 2010

Just some notes.

Photos from assorted cameras are here: http://picasaweb.google.com/ajoest/ChristmasAndNewYears20092010#

Arrived Christmas Eve at Luton from Zurich with Patty, caught the bus to Oxford and got picked up by Tim to be taken 'home' to Merton.

Awesome farm house in a village 20mins from Oxford. They were house-sitting the four dogs, two cats, ducks, geese, chooks and goats as well as the house!

Christmas was a feast - great to be with Aussies! Tim, Alina, Bianca, Alf, Jarrod, Ash and myself.

Boxing day was pretty relaxed

27th shot into Oxford and checked out the colleges and various other delights. Very cool town. The place reminded me of saints! Went up the tower and had a great view over the city. Nice and cold but dry.

28th chilled. Lots of videos, Wii, food and wine. Each day started with Tim letting the duck out, feeding the chooks, breaking the ice in the water troughs, walking the dogs and cleaning up the poop. I was there some days but most of the time sleeping in...

29th - Off to London to check it out. The first day of UK rain! Caught the train in...wandered around with the other tourists in the rain. Checked out the Imperial War Museum (interesting seeing the other side of the war) as well as a few other things before meeting up with Phil K in Marylebone and crashing there. Great to see the great man and meet Katherine, his girlfriend.

30th - The War Cabinet is a great museum. Lunch with Phil at Canary Wharf, then took the ferry back to the Tower of London. Walked around the city somewhat aimlessly checking out the sights and sounds. So much to see - so many facets to London. Dinner with Phil at the local pub sampling the local cask beers and fish&chips!

31st - Headed back to Oxford. Stylish Nando's dinner before the four of us hit the local Irish Pub and got silly....we stayed overnight at the Youth Hostel which was a perfect move. Great times. Note: New Year's Eve is so much easier with a small group of people and with travel home already planned. Great work team!

1st - Lazy as expected

2nd - Home to Mannheim leaving Oxford at 9am (after one last farm run!) and getting into Mannheim at 10pm.

Car - Bus - Bus - Plane - Bus - Train - Train - Tram

But I did finish "Inside Steve Job's Mind", read the Economist and start blogs and general stuff...

Wishing everyone a happy and successful 2010! And thanks again for a great time in Oxford.
