Graff and new friends in Berlin

It was a dark and cold weekend but kicked off with a night out with work colleagues in Mitte. Then Saturday and Sunday involved checking out Berlin Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg! Berlin is a smorgasboard for the eyes.
With trashy backdrops of wrecked buildings and graffiti prim and proper people walk the rain soaked streets. Never judge a book by its cover in Berlin - restaurants that look like 1 star diners from the outside, inside are worthy of michelin star fame - not that they want it. One sign said: No Becks, No Latte and if you want it, it's self-service!

Saturday evening, although raining heavily, was spent seeing the festival of lights where many of the buildings in Postdamer Platz and Unter der Linden were highlighted with a impressive light projection. The TV tower was the focus point at the end of Unter der Linden. A decent DSLR was required to take decent photos sadly.

We ventured out to the East Side gallery on Sunday which is along the River Spree south of city. Gentle reminders of Berlin's past like a 1 kilometre stretch of the former dividing wall of Berlin (eg not so gentle!) are all around Berlin. The East Side Gallery was make for a great outdoor gallery with artists from all around the wall using the concrete wall as a medium for their art.

Lots more to see!
